We want a dog.
So it’s a serious issue when, as a couple, your lifestyle doesn’t represent a responsible space for living with a dog.
What does that say about your life?
It means you either need to give up on connecting in a meaningful way with the wonderful species of canines, become cat people, or find a new lifestyle.
Wanting but not having a dog is equivalent to failing to connect to the color green, or to great spaghetti sauce, or to laughter.
And yes, cats are fabulous, if you enjoy a life of domesticated service and don’t have allergies to cat saliva, disdain, or shredded everything.
So when the “wanting to but not being able to” light bulb went off in our collective head this month, it served as yet one more confirmation that the time has come to make some changes.
Ready?
We’re making some changes.
We’re also communicating with the Southern California Poodle Rescue Operation, and have bought the book “[easyazon-link asin=”B00BR9WLR8″ locale=”us”]The Art of Raising a Puppy[/easyazon-link]” by the monks of the New Skete Monastery.

Stand by… Things are going to get very wriggly, and warm, and wonderful around here…
Might I suggest the name Scout?
It’s in the mix!

Pablo is waiting patiently for his new buddy to arrive…..We all can’t wait!
Standard poodles are great. Most have even got a sense of humour. They are occasionally used as guide dogs, our puppy walker supervisor says they are very smart. Their only drawback was that once trained they were difficult to redirect.
We are too keen on last minute travel at this point to commit so we just have doggie sleepovers at our place for now.
Terrific decision! Our red standard poodle Bailey agrees. Just please… no foo foo cuts ;o)
Looking forward to sharing the “puppy” ride with you. Don’t think he’ll fit in anyone’s sock at Christmas but should add to the hiliarity!
Lots of people have BIG dogs here at Ocean Corner. I am sure you will do just fine. We have a cat who is now 17 and I think after she is gone, we are out of the animal picture for awhile. But I would love to have a dog someday! Good luck with your decision!
My cat from a few years ago, Gadget, was such a sweetie, too. But allergies prevail, and poodles are very low allergen-laden animals, so we’re hoping for the best! More on this topic, soon!
Yes! Yes! Yes! My German Shepherd, Quincy, makes my life … possible. I just walk more 🙂 And … poodles are the MOST trainable creatures on EARTH. You’ll LOVE having one in your family.
Definitely looking forward to the obligatory exercise!
